A Brief History: Two very potent winter storms in early February of 2004 created both massive snow piles which appear on this webpage. I am surrounded by parking lots, and all the snow gets shoved around my apartment. The “South” pile runs parallel with my driveway, while the much larger “North” pile is located right outside my back yard. In the weeks and months ahead, I will chronicle the inevitable demise of these man-made obstructions.
UPDATE: The South Pile is completely gone. It melted away on March 9th while I was out of town, so I didn't get to photograph it's final glorious hour. The North Pile is still hanging around and received an extension on life thanks to a couple inches of snow on Monday night and Tuesday (3/15 & 3/16). Warm temperatures are forecast for the weekend which could bring about a swift end to the North Pile. Highs on both Friday and Saturday could reach into the 50s.
